Powerful way to detect early prostate cancer

Powerful way to detect early prostate cancer - Prostate cancer is a scourge for men. Therefore, new ways of detection of cancer continues to be done, as some researchers in New York. Based on research in New York said that noninvasiv scan method allows physicians to detect prostate cancer early.

Reported by HealthDay News, research carried out by a team of "Memorial Sloan-Kettering" Cancer Center in New York City states that this new scanning method can indicate the development of prostate cancer that has spread to the bone. This type of scan is also known by the name of the radiotracer used by injecting a small number of compounds characterized by radionuclides. By using positron emission tomography (PET), the doctor will be better able to visualize the form of tumor spread.

If used in humans, the researchers claim that the radiotracer might someday help doctors treat prostate cancer. "This is an interesting study using the radiotracer for the detection of PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) expressing tissues throughout the body." said Dr. Erik Goluboff, a urologist at Beth Israel Medical Center, New York City.
